Garden Inspiration P.2 - The East Garden

"For most of history, anonymous was a woman."
Virginia Woolf

I walked into this rather special Garden and felt instantly engrossed in it. It was full of an
unusual kind of natural beauty. It felt like a secret haven. It was full of amazing and
clever planting but it felt simple and untouched. It felt a very private place and somewhere
to be still and meditative.

These were the first thing I saw, the reddest poppies

Isn't this amazing!
Such a fabulous statement.

Elephant statue makes a real statement

This Elephant is part of a fantastic statue of three Elephants. It makes you
smile instantly. It is filled with Jasmine and is covered in horse shoes.

Old Tree seat

This tree seat feels like it is a place of worship to me. There to be admired
from a distance.

A hidden 'field' of contenplation

I walked into this 'space'
and felt alone with my thoughts.
I felt enclosed in the space
and hidden from the outside
world.

Trees which are green and to be
admired, grass which is peaceful
to the eye and simple planting.

I love pure white flowers don't you?
A fanstastic shrub of white in all its beauty in the sunshine

Beautiful flowers make for happy times.
In my mind there is nothing more relaxing than walking in a Garden of  beautiful flowers

Wild roses are as fabulous as standard Roses

We all love roses in any shape or form. I love the effect
from climbing roses over other plants, don't you?
So many beautiful accessible flowers but so few bees.

Rather garish this Rose but it works in this place

It was so still and unspoilt this Garden the day I visited it. I keep thinking about its tranquility and want to
return there soon for more inspiration and ideas.

Alliums look spectacular in this Garden

I love its central stamens and of course the bee

We all need beautiful flowers around us and sometimes we need to get ideas
and colours fom other places like Hatfield House. We do have a lot of
beautiful Gardens in the U.K which we can drop in on and we should make
the most of them when we can.

What a fabulous vista at Hatfield House

Of course there are Gardens all over the world
and many in Europe which are so spectacular.
So worth a trip to the great gardens in Italy,
France etc. Tivoli Gardens, in Italy is truly
breath taking. The scale and the grandeur
are fabulous.

European Gardens are very unique and have a
completely different feel. Monty Don, well
known Gardeners World  TV presenter and
author went around Europe a few years back
to do just that.

It gives you a different perspective and to see
how lavishly people lived and the dreams they
had to create beauty for themselves and others
to admire.

Fabulous archway down by edge of lake
The red beyond the arch is from the copper beech trees.
I love the effect don't you?

I love this place. It is truly tranquil and you can climb up the steps up to this arch
looking back into the huge Gardens or over the lake. It is such a beautiful spot
by the water and edging the Gardens.

Gardening and architecture are all part
of the fabulous landscape. We need beauty in stone work as well as in planting.

Fabulous flowers make a great show

Hatfield House's Gardens has a great tranquility of its own. It is a very inspiring place for those of us who need to
rest out brains and take it all in.
